KARACHI: Efforts to restore Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the United Kingdom (UK) are underway, announced DG CAA Nadir Shafi Dar on Thursday.
The issue of the suspension of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the United Kingdom remains under consideration as the UK authorities have also inspected Pakistan’s efforts, recently.
Director General Civil Aviation Authority Nadir Dar noted that Pakistani authorities are currently awaiting a formal response from British officials.
“We are hopeful that positive news regarding PIA from the UK will be received soon,” said the DG CAA.
He further added that the Civil Aviation Authority has sent reminders to British authorities regarding the matter.

It is worth noting that PIA faced a ban in the UK and several European countries following the 2020 pilots’ license scandal.
In 2020, during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government, then-aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan claimed that pilots were operating planes with fake licences.
This was his response after PIA’s Airbus A-320s plunged into a Karachi street, killing nearly 100 people.
Following this, the debt-ridden PIA was banned from flying to the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
However, after the lifting of restrictions in European countries, PIA resumed its Paris flights in November.
